I have decided to jump on the Friday Five bandwagon:
1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not?
I am the Manager of Documentation and QA at a small content-provider. I kind of fell into doing this type of work; I used to really enjoy it, but that’s waning now. I don’t think I am in it for the long haul.
2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be?
I’ve wanted to be a painter, fine arts, since I was a kid. If my parents had been wealthy, I think I would have pursued it. Actually, it’s a big regret of mine. (Not that I would have been any good, mind you...)
3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices?
In the beginning my father was a corporate executive, and my mother stayed home taking care of us. At one point, they fell on hard times. Now they own and operate a small copy shop. In some ways what happened to them was a shame, but I think that they are more dynamic now, so I guess it’s all worked out for the best.
When I was younger, I was dead set against having any type of corporate job. (I was a really odd kid; my parents were not the hippie types at all. So I have one now, sort of, I guess I have mellowed.
4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family?
Nope, but it doesn’t look like I’ll be having a family. I’m too introverted.
5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why?
Easiest job: Ski Instructor. I hired someone who used to do this for a living. I always wondered why he stopped doing it. I guess it gets kind of pathetic after a while.
Hardest Job: Anything in palliative care. (Actually, I'm sort of interested in doing this. Who knows?...)
